{"id":"CVE-2024-34750","published":"2024-07-03T19:32:34Z","modified":"2025-11-03T19:29:53Z","title":"Apache Tomcat: HTTP/2 excess header handling DoS","vendor":"Apache","product":"Apache Tomcat","tier":"tail","description":{"text":"Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions, Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in Apache Tomcat. When processing an HTTP/2 stream, Tomcat did not handle some cases of excessive HTTP headers correctly. This led to a miscounting of active HTTP/2 streams which in turn led to the use of an incorrect infinite timeout which allowed connections to remain open which should have been closed.\n\nThis issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.0-M20, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.24, from 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.89.\n\nThe following versions were EOL at the time the CVE was created but are \nknown to be affected: 8.5.0 though 8.5.100. Other EOL versions may also be affected.\n\n\nUsers are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.0-M21, 10.1.25 or 9.0.90, which fixes the issue.","provenance":"source","from":"CVE.org"},"cvss":{"score":7.5,"severity":"HIGH","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","provenance":"source","from":"CISA ADP Vulnrichment"},"epss":{"score":0.04602,"percentile":0.91668,"provenance":"source"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-755","name":"Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions"},{"id":"CWE-400","name":"Uncontrolled Resource Consumption"}],"references":[{"url":"https://lists.apache.org/thread/4kqf0bc9gxymjc2x7v3p7dvplnl77y8l","tags":["vendor-advisory"]},{"url":"https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20240816-0004/","tags":[]},{"url":"https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2025/07/msg00009.html","tags":[]}],"priority":{"score":23.6,"factors":[{"name":"EPSS percentile","points":18.33},{"name":"CVSS severity","points":5.25}]},"vendorSlug":"apache","affectedVersions":[{"vendor":"Apache Software Foundation","product":"Apache Tomcat","versions":[">= 11.0.0-M1, <= 11.0.0-M20",">= 10.1.0-M1, <= 10.1.24",">= 9.0.0-M1, <= 9.0.89",">= 8.5.0, <= 8.5.100"]}],"affected":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","package":"org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","vulnerableRanges":[">=11.0.0-M1, <11.0.0-M21",">=10.1.0-M1, <10.1.25",">=9.0.0-M1, <9.0.90",">=8.5.0, <=8.5.100"],"patched":["11.0.0-M21","10.1.25","9.0.90"],"from":["GHSA-wm9w-rjj3-j356"],"provenance":"source"},{"ecosystem":"Maven","package":"org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-coyote","vulnerableRanges":[">=11.0.0-M1, <11.0.0-M21",">=10.1.0-M1, <10.1.25",">=9.0.0-M1, <9.0.90",">=8.5.0, <=8.5.100"],"patched":["11.0.0-M21","10.1.25","9.0.90"],"from":["GHSA-wm9w-rjj3-j356"],"provenance":"source"}],"euvd":{"id":"EUVD-2024-2438","exploited":false,"provenance":"source"},"lineage":{"packageHistory":[{"cve":"CVE-2023-44487","published":"2023-10-10","fixed":"11.0.0-M12","kev":true},{"cve":"CVE-2023-45648","published":"2023-10-10","fixed":"11.0.0-M12","kev":false},{"cve":"CVE-2024-24549","published":"2024-03-13","fixed":"11.0.0-M17","kev":false,"link":{"from":"CVE-2024-24549","to":"CVE-2024-34750","relation":"successor","confidence":"low","kind":"sequence","evidence":[{"kind":"version-step","provenance":"source","package":"Maven:org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","fromFixed":"9.0.86","toFixed":"9.0.90","daysApart":112},{"kind":"version-step","provenance":"source","package":"Maven:org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","fromFixed":"10.1.19","toFixed":"10.1.25","daysApart":112}]}},{"cve":"CVE-2024-34750","published":"2024-07-03","fixed":"11.0.0-M21","kev":false},{"cve":"CVE-2024-38286","published":"2024-11-07","fixed":"11.0.0-M21","kev":false},{"cve":"CVE-2023-24998","published":"2023-02-20","fixed":"11.0.0-M5","kev":false},{"cve":"CVE-2023-28709","published":"2023-05-22","fixed":"11.0.0-M5","kev":false}],"package":"Maven:org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core"}}
