Adobe Acrobat and Reader Universal 3D Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Adobe · Acrobat and Reader

End of lifeAdobe Reader/Acrobat 9 reached on 26 Jun 2013. No patch is coming: remove or isolate it.

Summary

The U3D (Universal 3D) implementation in Adobe Acrobat and Reader versions 9.x before 9.3, 8.x before 8.2 on Windows and Mac OS X, and 7.x before 7.1.4 mishandles CLODProgressiveMeshDeclaration array boundaries, allowing out-of-bounds memory writes. A remote attacker who supplies a PDF document containing malformed U3D data can execute arbitrary code, provided the victim opens the document, which requires user interaction and no prior authentication.

Official description · NVD

The U3D implementation in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x before 9.3, 8.x before 8.2 on Windows and Mac OS X, and 7.x before 7.1.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via malformed U3D data in a PDF document, related to a CLODProgressiveMeshDeclaration "array boundary issue," a different vulnerability than CVE-2009-2994.
