Ubiquiti AirOS Command Injection Vulnerability

Ubiquiti · AirOS

Summary

Ubiquiti AirOS contains a command injection flaw in the stainfo.cgi component (the "Show AP info" function), where the ifname parameter is passed to the shell without sanitization, so shell metacharacters supplied in that value are interpreted as commands. An attacker who can send a GET request to the affected stainfo.cgi endpoint can inject and run operating system commands on the device with no authentication or user interaction required, provided the device is reachable over the network.

Official description · NVD

On certain Ubiquiti devices, Command Injection exists via a GET request to stainfo.cgi (aka Show AP info) because the ifname variable is not sanitized, as demonstrated by shell metacharacters. The fixed version is v4.0.1 for 802.11 ISP products, v5.3.5 for AirMax ISP products, and v5.4.5 for AirSync firmware. For example, Nanostation5 (Air OS) is affected.
