Microsoft Windows Kernel Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Microsoft · Windows

Summary

The flaw lies in NDProxy.sys, a component of the Microsoft Windows kernel in Windows XP SP2 and SP3 and Windows Server 2003 SP2, and stems from improper input validation. An attacker who already has local access to the system can run a crafted application that gains elevated privileges, and the attack requires a user to run that application (user interaction) with no authentication needed beyond local user access.

Official description · NVD

NDProxy.sys in the kernel in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3 and Server 2003 SP2 allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application, as exploited in the wild in November 2013.
