Red Hat Automatic Bug Reporting Tool Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Red Hat · Automatic Bug Reporting Tool

Summary

The abrt-hook-ccpp helper program in Red Hat's Automatic Bug Reporting Tool (ABRT) before 2.7.1 creates files with predictable names, leading to improper link resolution before file access. A local user with certain permissions can exploit this through a symlink attack on a predictably named file, such as /var/tmp/abrt/abrt-hax-coredump or /var/spool/abrt/abrt-hax-coredump, to gain elevated privileges.

Official description · NVD
