Apache HTTP Server Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Apache · HTTP Server
Apache HTTP Server 2.4 releases 2.4.17 through 2.4.38, when running the event, worker or prefork MPM, allow code running in less-privileged child processes or threads (including scripts run by an in-process scripting interpreter) to manipulate the scoreboard. An attacker who already has local access and low-privilege code execution in those child processes can use this to run arbitrary code with the parent process's privileges, usually root; non-Unix systems are not affected.
In Apache HTTP Server 2.4 releases 2.4.17 to 2.4.38, with MPM event, worker or prefork, code executing in less-privileged child processes or threads (including scripts executed by an in-process scripting interpreter) could execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the parent process (usually root) by manipulating the scoreboard. Non-Unix systems are not affected.

Exploitation timelineDated milestones for a CVE: when it was disclosed, when exploit code became public, when exploitation was confirmed, and when threat reports named it.
First seen exploited 3 years after disclosure. Public exploit code (Exploit-DB) was available the same day.
CISA KEV listing is when exploitation was confirmed, not necessarily the first attack.
