Apple iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS Memory Corruption Vulnerability

Apple · iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS

Summary

Apple iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS contain a memory handling flaw in how mail messages are processed, which results in heap corruption (classified as an out-of-bounds write). An attacker who can deliver a maliciously crafted mail message to a vulnerable device can trigger the corruption over the network with no privileges required, but the victim must take a user action to process the message.

Official description · NVD

A memory consumption issue was addressed with improved memory handling. This issue is fixed in iOS 13.5 and iPadOS 13.5, iOS 12.4.7, watchOS 6.2.5, watchOS 5.3.7. Processing a maliciously crafted mail message may lead to heap corruption.
