Microsoft Windows MSHTML Platform Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Microsoft · Windows

Summary

The flaw is a remote code execution vulnerability in the MSHTML Platform component of Microsoft Windows, which is the browser rendering engine used by Windows. An attacker could execute code remotely on an affected system by exploiting the memory-corruption weaknesses involved (out-of-bounds write and out-of-range pointer offset), and this requires network access, no prior authentication, and a user to interact with a crafted element such as opening a malicious document or page, with exploitation considered high complexity.
