Cisco Small Business RV Series Routers Stack-based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Cisco · Small Business RV160, RV260, RV340, and RV345 Series Routers
The flaw is a stack-based buffer overflow, among several related vulnerabilities, in the Cisco Small Business RV160, RV260, RV340, and RV345 Series Routers. An attacker can exploit it to execute arbitrary code, elevate privileges, run arbitrary commands, bypass authentication and authorization, fetch and run unsigned software, or cause denial of service, and the attack requires adjacent network access, low-privilege authentication, and no user interaction.
Multiple vulnerabilities in Cisco Small Business RV160, RV260, RV340, and RV345 Series Routers could allow an attacker to do any of the following: Execute arbitrary code Elevate privileges Execute arbitrary commands Bypass authentication and authorization protections Fetch and run unsigned software Cause denial of service (DoS) For more information about these vulnerabilities, see the Details section of this advisory.

This vulnerability is exploited by bypassing user authentication mechanisms via a lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before executing a system call. This could grant adversaries root access to execute arbitrary code.
