Samsung Mobile Devices Insertion of Sensitive Information Into Log File Vulnerability

Samsung · Mobile Devices

Summary

A flaw in the Samsung Mobile Devices platform causes kernel pointers to be written into the device log file in releases prior to SMR May-2023 Release 1, classified as insertion of sensitive information into a log file. A privileged local attacker can read these leaked kernel addresses from the logs and use them to defeat address space layout randomization, requiring local access to the device with elevated privileges and no user interaction.

Official description · NVD

Kernel pointers are printed in the log file prior to SMR May-2023 Release 1 allows a privileged local attacker to bypass ASLR.
