SimpleHelp Authentication Bypass Vulnerability
SimpleHelp · SimpleHelp
SimpleHelp contains an authentication bypass flaw in its OIDC authentication flow, where identity tokens submitted during login are accepted without verifying their cryptographic signature. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this in a vulnerable OIDC configuration by submitting a forged token with arbitrary identity claims to obtain a fully authenticated technician session, with no user interaction required and possibly bypassing multi-factor authentication in some configurations.
SimpleHelp versions 5.5.15 and prior and 6.0 pre-release versions contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the OIDC authentication flow. When OIDC authentication is configured, identity tokens submitted during login are accepted without verifying their cryptographic signature. In a vulnerable configuration, a remote, unauthenticated attacker can submit a forged token containing arbitrary identity claims to obtain a fully authenticated technician session. In some configurations, this may also allow bypass of multi-factor authentication. No user interaction is required.

Exploitation timelineDated milestones for a CVE: when it was disclosed, when exploit code became public, when exploitation was confirmed, and when threat reports named it.
First seen exploited 17 days after disclosure. Public exploit code (Metasploit) was available the same day.
CISA KEV listing is when exploitation was confirmed, not necessarily the first attack.
